Biologics Therapy
HOW IT WORKS
How Stem Cells are Obtained
Autologous sources include peripheral fat, bone marrow and peripheral blood. Allogenic sources include new born umbilical cord blood and tissue from healthy births. Cord Blood and Cord Tissue is collected at the time of delivery. After a baby is born, cord blood is left in the umbilical cord and placenta. It is relatively easy to collect, with no risk to the mother or baby. It contains stem cells. Cord blood and cord tissue stem cells have the special quality of being the purest and youngest tissue–specific stem cells you can collect and function more quickly and effectively than adult stem cells from other sources.
What are Stem Cells?
Stem cells are the body’s raw materials — cells from which all other cells with specialized functions are created. Stem cells have the ability to differentiate into multiple kinds of cells (a muscle cell, a red blood cell or any other).
What are the benefits of Biologics Therapy?
There are many potential benefits of stem cell therapy, including:
Repairing damaged tissues: Stem cells can differentiate into various types of cells and can potentially be used to repair damaged tissues, such as heart tissue after a heart attack or nerve tissue after a spinal cord injury.
Treating diseases: Stem cells may be able to replace cells that are lost or damaged due to diseases such as diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, or multiple sclerosis.
Improving healing: Stem cells may be able to stimulate the body’s own repair processes and improve healing times.
